A beautiful stately home with a full private staff available for exclusive weddings, corporate team building events and small private dinner parties. Located on a private 5,500 acre estate, between Barnstaple and South Molton, this is a fantastic property for a really special occassion.
The house is set in rolling parkland with beautiful formal and woodland gardens, follies, trees and plants, and is one of Devon’s less known gems – not open to the public. It has been in the ownership of one family (the Fortescue’s of Devon) since 1454. The present descendants live in the centre block, while the East Wing, with its magnificent views over terraces, lakes and Xa Tollemache’s Millennium Garden, lends itself to short stays for our guests in great comfort.
Enjoy traditional English Country House hospitality with a private and discrete staff of the butler, chef and house-keeper. Enjoy delicious food served in the garden room using local produce grown from the estate.
About Your Hosts
A great knowledge of opera, gardens and business and a wide knowledge of North Devon. They are both keen gardeners, conservationists and supporters of many rural interests, having access to fishing and excellent shooting. They also enjoy golf, antiques and history.
Out and About
Walking, horse riding and private fishing can all be enjoyed on the estate. Private garden tours and National Trust heritage house visits, shooting, water sports, windsurfing and golf are also available. Delicious locally produced foods are available in nearby restaurants, which can be pre-booked. Theatre visits to the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple can also be arranged.
